My name is Riley Glackin and I live in Hazlet, New Jersey. I am part of the graduating class of 2022 at the Academy of Allied Health and Science in Neptune, New Jersey. I currently play for Hazlet United club soccer, and before that, I played for Cedar Stars Academy 2003 team. My position is Goal Keeper and I train with John Plaugic.
At 5'10", my height gives me an advantage in net. I excel at defending set-pieces such as corner kicks and free kicks and feel at ease when directing teammates where to go. I am also strong in 1v1s as I am not afraid to come out of the net and shut down strikers. Communication is an important aspect in any team sport and I am a very outspoken person on the field. It's important to be able to talk to teammates and point out weak spots in the defense. As for distributions, my punts consistently make it over the half and I have a strong throw as well. I always make sure the player I distribute the ball to has the opportunity to do something with it. I never only punt or only throw the ball during a game since it's important to look for the best opportunities.
Medicine is my passion, and I plan to either major in Biochemistry and eventually become an Anesthesiologist. I am enrolled in honors and dual enrolment courses at my school and have a few Rutgers credits already in the courses Dynamics of Healthcare and Anatomy I and have the opportunity for college credit in Anatomy II and Nutrition this year. I finished sophomore year with a GPA of 95.17. I am currently in the National Honor Society and participate in the AAHS chapter of HOSA.
My strongest traits as a player are my aggressiveness and determination. I never let setbacks bring me down and work harder after every goal, every mistake, and every injury. I am always aware of what I can do better and push myself to reach my goals. I know I could be a great asset to any team because I have the energy to not give up and push my teammates to work just as hard.
