Personal Statement
I first became interested in soccer when I watched my cousin play on her high school team. When I saw the way she bonded with her teammates and worked so hard to become one of the best on her team, I knew my goal was to follow in her footsteps. Immediately after, I practiced every day on my skills so that I could become the best. A few years later, I entered high school and met a coach, Patrick O'Connor, who influenced the person I am today. I was taught the values of sacrifice, commitment, leadership, and teamwork to get our team to become one of the best in the state. While playing internationally the past couple summer's in the Donosti Cup in Madrid Spain, and being selected to go to Lyon France, with the Adidas International Select Team, I grew to become a student-athlete and mastered how to handle both athletics and academics at the same time. However, I faced an obstacle the middle of my sophomore year where I tore my labrum in my hip and was in need surgery. The surgery required a sixth month recovery period but with the help of my coaches and family, I was later able to re-focus my efforts and come back better, and stronger than I was before. I am looking for a program that will not only be a good fit for me athletically, but academically as well. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
