Being a soccer player comes with a lot of responsibilities. They include practicing and working out on your own to stay in shape. Another aspect that I think is very important, is how I strive to make myself and everyone around me better. A few years ago I was always the oldest on my team and the other players looked up to me, not only as a player but also as a person. However, now I am the youngest on both my club and high school teams. Although I am not the oldest and the players may not all look up to me as much, I still try everyday to make myself and everyone else better. One way I accomplish this is through encouragement. Being a positive player can result in others not getting down on themselves when they make a mistake. Pushing my teammates is a win-win situation for me as it allows me to help others, and builds them up to help me whenever I am in need. Soccer isn't all about physical ability, a big part of the game is mental. Improving my "soccer IQ" is something I work at by both watching professional matches and also asking lots of questions of coaches and players, of any level, in hopes of learning something new. In terms of learning, I am also a great student. I have received straight A's throughout middle school and now have begun high school taking several honors classes. Playing soccer is one of he best feelings I get, but to be able to continue to feel this way, I need to keep improving every single day.
