My middle school social studies teacher inspired me and really got me to where I am in the world of athletics today. I played soccer during all of the years possible during middle school, as well as managing our schools basketball team. Moving into high school, the first year I couldn't find my way into athletics. Girls Soccer was not a sport at the time and I didn't have any connections for team manager. Sophomore and junior year however, I became team manager for our boys basketball and boys volleyball team. Senior year I played varsity level soccer in a starting position, and still plan on managing both boys team when their seasons start.
During school I'm a quiet and reserved person, rarely engage with classmates. However, I can talk your ear off when I'm in the right group or at home. Getting involved in any sport i've done over my life, gave me a connection to new friends. Friends that I wouldn't have made if I didn't make that decision to join the team. My decision to join soccer this year, led me to a group that sticks out for each other on and off the field, and i've experienced both situations first hand.
