Hello, I am Sophia DePew and I am currently a Senior at Green High School from Uniontown, Ohio. Soccer has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began in recreational leagues when I was 4 years old, continued with travel and soon progressed to premier and elite programs. I have always desired to continue playing soccer in college. I am excited to go to practice, workouts, and especially games. Playing the game is my way of freedom. I always feel like I am in my happy place when I have a ball at my foot. I could not imagine not playing after I graduate high school because soccer has been such an essential part of my life. Being blessed to compete in the top of the NPL league has allowed me to meet some of my greatest friends. Playing at a high level with talented players has helped me to develop and grow as a person. Overall, my goal for the future is to keep improving, and enjoy what I am doing.
To me, academics come first. I strive to sustain a GPA higher than a 3.8, which I have done throughout high school. I challenge myself by taking AP and Honors classes so I will be prepared for the effort that needs to be put into college studies. I always try to be involved with my school, which keeps my everyday schedule busy. I was an office aid and Girls of Green Officer my Junior year. Besides playing soccer, I did Track for 2 years, as well as Bowling for 1 year. I was even a 3 sport athlete my Sophomore year! I believe that leadership and dedication is key to someone's character on and off the field. My high school goal has been to always be a role model for the underclassmen so they will have someone to look up to and be there for them. My academic goal is to attend a college that will offer me a Health Science Program where I can study Exercise Science or Kinesiology. Science and anatomy have been my favorite subjects and I believe that this field of study would suit me well. I look forward to becoming part of a collegiate team where I can excel in both the classroom and on the soccer field.
