2017 Highlights Hard work and balance make a student-athlete successful. I enjoy the challenge of excelling in sports and school. As a defensive player, I look to take advantage of opportunities as I see them develop on the field. As a high school student, I take on honors and local college classes, while participating in other opportunities such as student council, Model United Nations and the high school musical.
My freshman and sophomore off-seasons I made the choice to improve my strength, endurance, and agility to prevent injury and as a result, I gained a passion for lifting. My bench is 145lbs and my squat is 245lbs. Switching to different forms of exercise in my off-seasons has kept me fresh for each new soccer season, while never changing my love for the game.
This 2017 season my team finished 13-4-2, the best in program history! I began the season as center defense. Midway through the season, my coach moved me to defensive midfielder. According to my coach, this improved the energy and pace of our game and propelled us to defensive success the remainder of the season. In this position, I also scored two goals outside the eighteen. At the conclusion of the season, I was awarded conference First Team Defender, Second Team District, Team Defensive Player of the Year and our "Blood, Sweat & Tears" Award.
I have decided to major in business management with an emphasis on accounting & finance. I want to play soccer at the collegiate level for a school with a strong business program. To accomplish this goal, I have adjusted my training and will now play with a club team to further enhance my skills and meet potential college coaches. I play for Team Challenger FC - North. I intend to continue my workouts in the weight room as well as practice 2-3 times a week with this soccer team. In addition to playing in showcases, I will continue to attend ID camps and take college tours to find the proper fit.
If given the opportunity, I know I can contribute, both on and off the field, as a student-athlete to any college campus.
