Personal Statement
I started playing soccer when I was about five, and I quickly discovered that I loved the sport! Throughout my years of participation in high school and club soccer, I have had the opportunity to make a lot of friends and travel to many different places. However, most importantly, soccer has taught me determination and persistence. Something I am very proud of is that I was a high school varsity starter as a freshman, and last year, as a sophomore, my coach named me as Varsity Defensive Player of the year.
The biggest challenge that I have faced so far in life is having foot surgery earlier this year. This was the first time that I was not able to participate in the sport that I loved and made me "me." I did not realize that not being able to participate in soccer would affect me as much as it did. Even though I could not play, I went to support my team even though it was killing me to be sitting on the bench. Now, that I am back to the game I love, I appreciate it all the more and know that I want to continue playing competitive soccer for as long as possible.
