Personal Statement

WHO AM I?
My name is Ashley Buck; I am still growing, currently 5’-7” and 115 Lbs. Because I am a late bloomer and had to play against girls who had already matured I had to excel tactically and technically to be able to play. Now that I am growing I hope to be the complete package with size, speed and excellent tactical and technical abilities.

I am in 11th grade and a 2016 graduate of Juan Diego Catholic HS with a 3.95+ GPA playing for the Utah Avalanche soccer club. For over a decade I have played competition soccer with the Utah Avalanche Club. I am currently on their U17 ECNL team, a three year varsity starter on the Juan Diego Catholic Girls Varsity Team and five year starter on the 97 Utah ODP team. I am a very versatile player with no weak foot. My primary position is Center/Attacking Mid and Set-Pieces and secondary position is Forward, Defensive Mid or Center Back.

WHAT TYPE OF PLAYER AM I?
I would like to share my game philosophy with you. It can be summarized as; first - control the game by winning the midfield and controlling the ball, second – being a box to box player, third – always put my team in scoring position and fourth – always finish any opportunity given to me.

I am a highly technical player with speed and a high soccer IQ. I am a tactically sound player who hasn’t reached her full potential and will continue to grow stronger physically, mentally, technically and tactically through their college career. I can play both ends of the field “box to box”. I am an individual who has good time management skills, who is motivated to make good grades and you don’t have to worry about.

I am a versatile scorer. In 3 years and 71 ECNL, ODP and high school games I have found the back of the net 44 times from outside the eighteen (left and right footed), inside the box (left and right footed), on PKs, on free kicks 20 -45 yards out and bending corner kicks in. My shooting percentage is just under 50%.

I am an unselfish player who will look to put their team in scoring position. My 33 assists came from thru-balls, free kicks and corners.

WHAT COACHES ARE SAYING ABOUT ME

WCC assistant coach commented after their ID Camp “You are not a flashy player until your last pass”.

WCC head coach commented after a camp “You are a highly technical player, connect all your passes, make good decisions and I am confident if you are in scoring position you will finish it.”

PAC 12 head coach commented after a tournament to my coach “She has very clean footwork”.

Big Sky head coach commented during an unofficial college visit that “She is the most technical player in Utah”.

Ivy League Coach stated “ You are just what this team needs a midfielder that can pass with all surfaces of their foot.”

97 Utah ODP head coach stated “She has the strongest left foot and is the strongest technical player on the field”.

Avalanche Head Coach stated “I can play you anywhere on the field and you will do well”.

An opposing high school coach commented “I am a game changer”.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
