Personal Statement
Ever since I attended my first Wave game in third grade, I knew soccer was the sport for me; I would play at the collegiate level. I started playing at my school, moved to a rec team, then in sixth grade I tried out for club. While I made the team, I was one of two girls who were new to higher level games and level of play. I feel like I grew the most as an athlete with this adjustment, especially as I was one of the youngest. I re-focused my efforts and played for both the A and B team, practicing five times a week, taking all the criticism from my coaches and applying it to my game. Now I'm a starting varsity player at center back, made First-Team All Conference my freshman and sophomore year with eight goals scored, and also a three-time captain. I've learned the value of commitment, sacrifice, and leadership especially because my teams haven't been fortunate with results. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit both athletically and academically, seeing as my classes content are comparable to those at college which has shaped me into a very balanced student-athlete; I thrive both on the field and in the classroom. I believe I not only have what it takes to compete for a college team but also work-ethic, character, and leadership skills to make an impact. I aspire to be the first in my family to graduate college while playing the sport that brings me the most joy.
