I have grown up in a small island town in southeast Alaska, and I feel as though my experience here has shaped me and provided opportunities not often experienced by other student-athletes. I live sandwiched by mountains and ocean, and I love to get out and adventure, take pictures and paint of my experiences in the outdoors.
The pool has domineered me my whole life; I don't remember a time that I wasn’t constantly chlorinated! I find satisfaction in pushing myself during practice, and often seeing results in meets. I am a very versatile swimmer, and I have been able to place highly in any events that I focus on, be it the 500 or 50 free! I made the decision to continue swimming into college when I began considering colleges last year. I realized that I want to have a team to back me up and have something familiar like practices as I enter this new chapter in my life.
Academically, I have worked hard to pursue my education, and have always been an engaged student that is willing to put in extra time and effort to achieve my goals. I take great pride in my academic accomplishments and feel as though it is a reflection of my character.
Overall, I think that I would be a great addition to any collegiate swim team and school. I am disciplined, loyal, and committed. Living in a small town has taught me to be extroverted and outward-facing, while also focusing on my own goals. I am also very academically focused; my ability to maintain a 4.0 GPA during both my freshman and sophomore years, while also participating in two highschool sports, and subsequently missing upwards of 6 weeks of school for travel, proves how I can work to keep my grades up.
