Personal Statement
I would love to go to a school that challenges me both academically and athletically. I want to work hard to achieve good grades, as well as to drop time in all my events. I am a very outgoing person and would bring lots of energy to the team! Sometimes I like to think I have a sense of humor, but a lot of the times I'm the only one that finds myself funny. :)
I spend most of my time swimming, doing schoolwork, or volunteering. I drive an hour each way to practice 5 to 6 times a week. Most of my practices are 2 to 3 hours. Practice (and driving to/from practice) takes up most of my free time outside of school.
I usually split my homework up, doing some at night after practice and some in the morning before school. Many mornings I will go in and ask my teachers to help, especially when I do not understand what is going on. I think this extra time I put in really helps me understand the material.
On one of the days I do not go to practice, I love to volunteer at the local nursery home. I usually end up in a competitive game of some sort or sometimes I just talk to a lonely resident. I love seeing them light up when they get a visitor! I am also very involved at church and I help with the 2nd and 3rd grade Sunday School.
Overall, I am a really approachable person who loves to have fun, but knows when to be serious. I know that hard work is the only way to become a better swimmer and I display that during practices and meets. I am so excited for my journey of college swimming to begin!
