My name is Clare Schwartz and like many other swimmers, swimming has been a huge part of my life and I am very passionate about it. I have loved the sport from the moment that I started swimming when I was 6, all the way until now. It has taught me many valuable lessons, the most important being that not every race is a good race and my mentality really does effect my performance. These do not only apply for swimming, but can be used in other parts of my life as well and I will take these lessons with me forever. This is why my goal is to swim at the collegiate level. It will allow me to continue learning more lessons as i go and maybe even pass on what I have learned to other people as well.
Most swimmers have the common goal of swimming in college to better themselves in the sport, but there is more to it for me. Yes, a big part of swimming is trying to improve my times, but the even bigger thing for me is being a part of a team and making a difference. That is where I differ from most other recruits. Along with this, academically I would want to go somewhere that will challenge me as a student. I have a goal in making a difference, whether that is helping and guiding people or just making the world a better and happier place. Physical therapy, nursing, biomedical engineering, and environmental engineering interests me the most. As a student and an athlete, I look forward to growing in my college years and seeing where it takes me in my future.
