Maria Jhoanne Oushalkas '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Maria Oushalkas and I live in Frisco, Texas.  

Throughout my 12 years of swimming, I have learned that one's mindset and hard work will take one farther than anything else. I'm always trying to bring my team up and make everyone around me work hard so that not only I get pushed, but so do others and I believe that is the type of culture that should happen within a team. 

My goals are high both in and out of the pool. Even though I do swim twice a day, studying to be an engineer has been my dream, and while in high school I've been taking engineering courses that have forced me to manage my time so that I can be prepared to give 100% every time I touch the water.
