Charlotte Kordonowy '21 Recruiting Profile

Having been military brat born in Germany and currently living in Germany with parents from the Czech Republic and the United States, I spent most of my life in Europe. I started playing tennis at 7 years old, learning from passionate coaches from Argentina, Czech Republic, Egypt, and Great Britain. As a result, I must adjust to change more often than others, altering my leadership skills as compared to those of other cultures. I must get to know my team such as their cultures and the way they think to fully understand how to work together as a team. This has enabled me to play for three teams: TC Grafenhausen Women Verbandsliga, Bad Nauheim Under 18 Hessenliga, and a DoDEA division 1 high school, each represented by multiple nationalities. As a Czech-American I am #1 on my women’s team, #1-2 on my under 18 team, and #1 and captain of my high school team. 

As the top player since I first entered high school, I led my team to a third place finish my freshman year, and two consecutive first place wins my sophomore and junior year out of 18 teams in the annual European Championships tournament. I am a three year finalist and was awarded 1st Team All Europe similarly. As a club player, I have earned multiple county and district titles, and qualified for the state championships the last five years. It has been my goal since I first started playing tennis to play for a university as a freshman and be successful and be a valuable player throughout the season. I would like to go to school where I can study kinesiology or a human physiology related field and to further learn and develop leadership skills. While I have no preference in the size of the school, I would like to go somewhere on the West or East Coast.
