At eight years old I started playing tennis. I didn’t know it then but tennis would change the rest of my life. Choosing to play tennis, meant playing a sport where I was in control. With tennis I could make the calls of how to play and also be part of every point; two of my favorite aspects of the game. The more I play the more my love for the game grows and my goals of playing at the collegiate level are more and more solidified. My high school team played a big part in convincing me that I want to play college tennis. Although tennis is mostly an individual sport having a team behind me makes the game even more fun and helps me get through the harder days on court. I always cheer on and support my team because I understand the importance of having a good relationship with them. Additionally, my relationships with my coaches are a big part of my life. They have had a positive impact on the intangible factors like mental toughness, work ethic, and persistence. No matter how hard a day on court I have, I can always trust myself to come back for my next practice. Each practice, match, and talk with my coach has shaped me into the person and athlete I am today.
Along with tennis I am excited to learn new subjects that I am interested in. I can easily see myself helping people stay healthy so I plan on studying Athletic training, Nutrition services, or biology in general. I’ve always found health interesting especially when it comes to improving the performance of athletes. Balancing tennis and school is very important to me. I can’t wait to find a team that loves and is as passionate about tennis as I am. Finding the right college and tennis program mean a lot to me and I am enjoying the journey. I know I will bring dedication and perseverance to your team.
