I have moved many times to different areas and tennis is something that has allowed me to create many friendships that I still cherish today. I have been seriously playing tennis for 8 years, but have taken lessons from a young. Tennis has been great way to keep me in good shape physically and mentally. I love the game of tennis, competing in front of a crowd, and how it makes me feel when I play. As a high-school student, I have been very motivated in the academic aspects as well as, volunteer work in the community, and in progressing my game in tennis.
Over the course of my tennis career, I have learned many values that I will be able to use throughout life such as what it takes to excel in something, controlling your emotional responses in stressful situations, and many other great lessons. One instance that really helped me grow as a person was, when I went to North State in the ninth grade and did not agree with several of the other players calls and gave up halfway through the match and lost. I would later come to play the same girl and play a very close game with her, but, still, I would lose again. These were good learning instances for me because they opened my eyes to how fast I could improve my tennis game if I worked hard enough, and they also showed me that when you have your mind under control when playing, you have a better chance at winning and playing to the best of your ability.
