I started playing tennis when I was 10 years old. By the age of 12, I decided to start playing in tournaments but was also playing volleyball and basketball. Living close to SMU in Dallas, I was able to attend matches and get to know the players. Watching them compete and working on my own game, I determined I wanted to work hard so I could play at the collegiate level. At the age of 14, I began home school and joined TBarM Tennis Academy in Dallas.
I am a left handed player with a strong serve and powerful ground strokes. I am working very hard to develop a serve and volley game as well as improve my consistency. I am finishing up my freshman year and have a goal to be in the top 50 in Texas by the end of my sophomore year with an ultimate goal to have a high national ranking by the time I graduate high school.
While tennis is an individual sport, being part of an academy provides a team environment where you must compete against your peers, but also cheer them on in local tournaments which I believe will benefit me as I move on to play in college. The academy program is also helping me prepare for college as I have to personally manage getting my schoolwork completed around 4-6 hours of practice daily.
I will spend the next three years working to continue to develop as a student and athlete so I can make a positive impact on a collegiate program. My goal is to attend a college where I can participate in a competitive program, have an impact on the team, and continue to become a well rounded student athlete that is prepared for life after tennis.
