My team being runner-up in the State Championship my freshman and sophomore year has shaped me as an athlete. It has changed my goals for myself and my team and also my plan to reach my goals. I have been able to identify places of improvement and apply different strategies to improve my performance on the track. I believe these past two years has given me the chance to experience loss and has also given me the experience of refocusing my training and mindset as an athlete.
Track became a part of my high school experience freshman year, and being on the varsity team since then has opened me up to many friendships. I have been able to meet so many unique people, and in college I want to do them same: meet people from different backgrounds, experiences, and environments. One thing I can pinpoint when expressing my experience on the track team has been my ability to be open-minded and positive at all times. In addition to this, the team has taught me the value of commitment, punctuality, support, and leadership.
My sophomore year, I became interested in biology and I was able to see myself studying the subject to do research and help others in my community whether that be in a doctor’s office or a lab. I would like to do further study of this field in college and have the opportunity to do research on subtopics that I find interesting.
