Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Aleynah Taylor. I am half-Japanese, half-American and this is my fifth year running Cross Country. I am also heading into my third year of Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. I really love to run. The reason I started this sport and the current reason that I run is due to the fact that I enjoy overcoming the mental difficulty of races in addition to the physical aspects. Running long distances is really a race against yourself to see how long and how fast you can go without giving up. It is an example of how the strength of your mind can help you push past the limits of your body. This is what has made me so devoted to running. I have goals I want to achieve and pushing through obstacles while I run, both mental and physical, is symptomatic of my goals in life.
I am responsible and hardworking and maintain high standards for my grades in addition to my training throughout each season. In addition to running, I have achieved my second-degree black belt in Shaolin-Kempo Karate over the last 8 years and recently graduated from Japanese School that I attended every Saturday since I was five years old. My current future goals for college are to learn how to become an architect and to pursue learning multiple languages in college (I currently speak Japanese and have decent abilities in Korean and Spanish).
In addition to being academically driven I typically train with the boy's team so that I can get the most out of my workout. I have systematically gone through every way to improve my running and do extra core and agility workouts daily to improve my athletic ability and that is why I think I am qualified to become a good college athlete.
Thank you,
Aleynah
