Placing second and third in the Idaho State Track Meet for the 4x100m and 4x200m relays respectively, had a major impact in my athletic career. The reason being, this was the first year I ran track (my Freshman year) and showed me what I was athletically capable of accomplishing. Since then, I believe that there's always room for improvement and growth. Junior year, my team won the Idaho State Soccer Tournament. These achievements have taught me tenacity, leadership, and perseverance. Although I've learned a lot from these athletic accomplishments, my extracurricular achievements have taught me even more. For example, the 387 of hours spent in service due to my involvement in both Key Club and National Honor Society. These experiences have taught me the importance of a strong community, and have shown me the impact and importance my time can affect another's life, especially when they are in need. My favorite part of volunteering is the happiness in someone's smile when you visit them in a nursing home, especially when they don't get visitors often. To impact their lives by spending time with them, listening to their stories and advice is very rewarding. Volunteering goes further than the holidays, and this joy can be found when helping out at a local marathon, or serving at a local school.
Furthermore, my academic achievements also make me who I am. I've received the SIC All Conference Academic award every season for both track and soccer. I've worked hard to maintain at least a 4.0 throughout high school and I plan to hold myself to the same standards in college. My AP and Honors courses have taught me time management and excellent study habits. I enjoy the rigors of a good challenge. I've also learned how to think on the fly and talk in front of a large group when I was nominated for President-Elect for National Honor Society and my Student Council positions. All of these challenges are experiences that have influenced my desire to pursue a higher education and prove myself at a collegiate level.
