I've always lived off the saying, "mind over matter" because that's really what life comes down to. I look at the challenge ahead and I don't give up until it's in rear view. There is always room for improvement so every day I wake up, I want to be better than yesterday hence I go out and put the work in. Whether that's going for a long run in knee-high snow, -30 degree weather, or studying until I know everything inside and out--I'll do whatever it takes to become the best version of myself. Because of the size of Moose Jaw, I've pretty much been on my own when it comes to training and studying but my love and discipline for school and the sport drives me to get better every day. I'm determined to achieve all my small goals leading up to the big, making the Olympic Team, goal. It has been a big goal of mine for a couple years now and it's always in the back of my head. I put the work in knowing that what I put in is exactly what I'm going to get out; I push myself athletically and academically to improve as a person overall. I strive for improvement daily, however, I don't let setbacks get in the way of the end goal. Sometimes things don't go the way I thought they would've but that doesn't affect tomorrow. Being mentally strong and keeping my chin up is what allows me to improve in the future. To conclude, I ultimately want to accomplish great things in athletically and academically so it's just a balance between them which I've been able to do the past years. I look forward to overcoming challenges and I am excited to see what the future has to hold.
