Personal Statement
I fell in love with running in the fall of 2008. At the time I was a competitive gymnast and wanted to do something to strengthen my legs and gain more endurance. After only one cross-country season I knew this is what I wanted to do. I loved the silent tension right before the starter gun, the beautiful courses and the race to be the best on and off the course. Every year I improved my times and started training outside of school. In the year of 2011 I decided to quit gymnastics to focus my energy on track & field and cross-country. Shortly after, I joined with Niagara Regional Athletics which in the years to come would completely change my physical and mental state for the better. I began to place top ten, top 5 and then top 3 rapidly within my first year of training with NRA. My life has become running and is what I hope to pursue in my college or university experience. As long I can remember I've been competitive and I will work the hardest I need to to get where I want to be.
Fast forwarding to my Gr.9 year, I had the best cross-country and track & field seasons I've ever had. During cross-country I qualified for OFSAA (Ontario Federation of School Athletic Association) championships in Waterloo. During track& field season I achieved a personal best almost every race I ran and also advanced to OFSAA championships at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. That year I was awarded cross-country best performance, track and field most valuable player and female rookie of the year at A.N Myer Secondary. I believe I would be a great candidate for any collegiate team because of my positive attitude, focus for running along with academics, wide knowledge of both cross-country and track and field and my hard working attitude. If I were given an opportunity to compete for a collegiate team I know I would give my all to achieve my best potential for track& field and cross-country and academics. In conclusion, I am prepared to work my hardest to reach my goals for potential collegiate teams and academically. I would love the opportunity to learn about potential collegiate teams and the recruiting process. Thank you for your time!
