I am aged 17 and I have been running since the age of 7. I have represented my country (Scotland) as both an athlete and a gymnast. I have coached athletics from the age of 11 and gymnastics from the age of 15. I was previously the cross country champion for schools in Scotland but laterally I have focussed more on track events. In 2023 I medalled in national events at 400m (twice) and 800m. In Scotland I am currently ranked (as an Under 20) 4th at 400m, 5th at 800m and 3rd at 1500m.
In May 2023 I sat 5 SQA Highers and achieved an A in them all. This is equivalent to a GPA of 4.0. I am interested in further my education both in the science field but also in accountancy.
I am a very dedicated scholar and athlete. I made the conscious decision over 2 years ago to transfer to another athletic club even though it was 100 miles from my home. I was confident that the coach and club would be of benefit to my training. However, although I do have a 6 day/week training plan I am only able to train with my team and coach on 2 of those days (as it is a round trip of 5 hours from my home). I am confident that once I go to University and be in a position to train more regularly with a team that I will be able to reduce my 800m time to 2.06 and my 1500m to 4.23.
I give my all to anything that I take on. I recently completed the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. Over a 3 year period I had to carry out various skills and volunteering and push myself beyond my comfort zone to achieve this. I am very much looking forward to attending Buckingham Palace in London next year to collect my award.
