Hi, my name is Becka Knox. I discovered my love for track and field in 7th grade when my spanish teacher asked me to come out and see what it's all about. Track and Field now runs through my veins. It seems every part of my life comes back to track. My passion for track has inspired me to use the love i have for running to help others. I do this by participating in events as the Detroit Komen Race for the Cure 5K, Relay for Life, and other 5K events. To be successful in Track and Field i have learned it's all about setting and achieveing goals. For me they were as small as to finish the 100m hurdles without falling, and as big as long jumping 16'9" to qualify for states. I have also applied my goal setting to my academics by trying not to turn an assignment late or trying to achieve a GPA of 4.0. By being determined and focused in school; I was nominated by one of my teachers, and after an interview process, selected as one of the forty members if the 2010 Metro Detroit People to People Student Ambassador Delegation. We traveled to Italy, France, and England learning cultrual differences with peers from other countries to promote cultural acceptance in the world. Since Track and Field is forever in my blood I want to continue it as a part of the next chapter in my life. Being a collegiate runner would keep track running through my veins, which would also help me continue my academic success in college. This will help me reach my ultimate goal of pursuing a career in the health/nursing field. I look forward to the opportunity to further my individual succes and to help your college succed as a team.
