2015 HighlightsTraveling with my 4X 400m relay team to the New Balance National Championships in Greensboro, NC was the highlight of my freshman year. When I entered as a freshman, I wanted to play sports for fun and to make friends. I played soccer in the fall and then Varsity Winter and Spring Track. Although I was always active in sports growing up (I was a competitive gymnast and played travel soccer) I had never competed with a track program prior to high school. I really enjoyed the friendships I made on all my teams and liked watching my speed accelerate as the seasons progressed. My speed gave me a confidence which inspired me to develop it outside of school. I joined a track club during sophomore year so that in between my high school sports seasons I could learn from others who specialize in sprinting. When time permits, I compete in meets outside of my school to improve my times and gain experience. I faced some challenges in the spring that year while having frequent shin splints, but have learned the importance of strength, nutrition and rest during this time. During my junior year, I sprained my ankle in a soccer game during the end of the fall, and I was unable to participate in winter track because of it. However, once it was fully recovered I started training again and was able to compete during spring track (and I even improved my times from before!). I’ve since recovered and the lessons I am learning daily will help prepare me for being a stronger student-athlete.
Balancing sports and academics is something I strive to uphold. The end of my sophomore year I received an award at my school for being a 3 sport varsity athlete and maintaining a G.P.A. above a 3.0, and recently (in my senior year) I have been accepted into the Business National Honors Society. I am looking for a college that will be a good fit for me athletically and academically. I know I have what it takes to be a valuable asset on your team and to represent your school in a positive manner!
