My name is Rose and I am a senior at John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in Iselin, New Jersey. As a dedicated student-athlete I hope to improve my skills both in the classroom and on the track and aspire to utilize them on the collegiate level. Although education is my main priority, I anticipate furthering my running career as I study at the undergraduate level.
I was introduced to track in my last year of middle school and immediately fell in love with the sport. I have been a varsity sprinter for my high school's spring track team since my freshman year and have competed in county and state meets ever since. Along with receiving school awards for my performances, I have placed in state meets and was part of the GMC division all star team as well. During my senior year, I joined the cross country team to better improve my skills; this being my first season of cross country, I am a varsity member of the team. Freshman through junior year I participated in competition cheerleading during the winter, but taking running more seriously I am joining the winter track team rather than cheering competitively.
My qualities as a runner reflect my life as a student as well as a member of society. As a student, I am motivated to take the most challenging classes my school offers and to get the best grades I am capable of achieving. I am in the top 10% of my graduating class, with a majority of my classes being at the Honors and Advanced Placement levels. Not only am I tenacious on an educational level, but I am a part of quite a few school and community related groups. I am a member of my school’s National Honor Society, Key Club, Future Business Leaders of America, Heroes and Cool Kids, and several others. Outside of school I volunteer at nursing homes, my former Catholic school functions, and am a teacher’s assistant at a religious education function and at a Polish Supplementary School.
I hope to be part of a university with students who have the same goals as I do. I intend on primarily studying business and looking to double major between a business major and political science or international relations. I desire to improve my skills and become a better student-athlete on the collegiate level.
