I think being the fastest girl in my elementary school class on field day made me feel confident about myself and the talent that I had. I loved being faster than all of the boys.
It wasn't until I was around the age of 11 that I went to Moses Brown track and field summer camp and started to discover some new things. I learned the basics of high jump at camp, so when my high school coach put the high jump mat and bar in front of me, I jubilantly scissored my first obstacle. I told him I knew how to do it, but I was aware later on of many techniques that I had never learned. I've adjusted my technique a lot since then, but I know that I have a lot more to learn.
Although I'm an athlete, I'm a student as well who takes grades very seriously. I hope to raise my 3.2 gpa to a 3.5 by the end of senior year and make cumlaude society. In college, I hope to major in psychology and focus on child, behavioral, and general psych. I also hope to get some real life experience.
