Personal Statement
Hello!
My name is Tatum Stelter and I am a senior at Deer Valley High School. Being a student athlete can be challenging at times, but the rewards are worth the sacrifices. I have been able to maintain a GPA above a 4.0, currently a 4.40 average, by taking honor and dual enrollment classes. Not only am I able to exceed in the classroom but also on the court. I have dedicated myself on being the best person, scholar and athlete I can be. I thrive on being challenged, making my teammates better and winning. I have been on varsity since a freshman and we have won back to back to back regional championships. As a junior, I had 212 digs. 41 aces and made 2nd team all - region as a D.S. I have been playing club volleyball for 6 years and I am currently team captain. We compete in the open division for regional play and we have finished in the gold bracket for several tournaments in the USA division.
Outside of volleyball and school, I love to hang out with my friends and family. Spending time with my family is very important to me which is why I enjoy family dinners where we all eat, talk, laugh and have fun. Even though I love being with my family, I also enjoy traveling and exploring different places. Since I’ve lived in Arizona my whole life, getting out and traveling is truly a great experience. Being outside of Arizona and exploring different cultures other than mine, would be a dream come true. Not only do I love to travel, but I also love to volunteer with a local animal shelter. Alongside my mom, we take in dogs and will foster/ care for them until they are healthy enough to get adopted. I also help at local adoption events where we try to find them a forever home. Being able to care and connect with these dogs until they find their dream home is really a unique and touching experience.
