Committed to Samford University
Hi, I'm Camryn Pierce – thank you for taking time to get to know me!
I have played competitive volleyball for four years and hope to continue my volleyball career at the collegiate level. Simply put - I love volleyball, and every minute I get to play is extremely valuable to me.
Academics are a top priority too, and my current GPA is 3.97 [on a 4.0 scale]. I am enrolled in Pre-AP classes, and push myself to be the best I can be in a classroom. As of December 2015, I have a 26 on the ACT. I see tremendous value in pushing myself to be the best I can be in the classroom.
As for volleyball, I wasn't successful in the beginning. I tried out for my local travel team in sixth grade [I had never played before], but didn't make it. Because of this, I was motivated to work even harder. In seventh grade, I tried out for, and made, my schools "B Team". As a player, I put a lot of effort into the weight room and on the court. Because of my work ethic, skill development, coach-ability, and passion for the sport, I earned a starting position by my freshman season. As a sophomore, I played for and earned my first state championship as a varsity starter for the Valley View Blazers. I finished as the #1 Sophomore blocker in the state of AR as well as the #1 blocker overall in the 5A conference. In March, I was named to Prep Volleyballs "Soph 79" list as an honorable mention. As a player, this is a strong testimony to how hard I work for things that I love.
Aside from my work on the court and in the classroom, I am seen as a leader among my peers. I have received many awards at church camps and in volleyball for my leadership skills. I am active in my community and clubs at my school. Also, I was the only underclassmen elected by my peers to a leadership role in Student Government. And my church youth group is one of the most important groups in my life. I am very strong in my walk with Christ, and do my best to put Him above all other things.
When I'm not playing volleyball or in a class, I love to spend time with my friends. I am also currently teaching myself to play the ukulele, and I love to travel and see new parts of the world.
Before age 12, I had lived in five different cities [from Atlanta to San Francisco]. These experiences allow me to maintain an open mind to schools all around the country and I know that wherever I am, I'm there because that's where God wants me to be.
In all, I am very passionate about volleyball. I strive to do my best on the court and in the classroom. I am a leader for my school, team, community, and youth group. I am open-minded to different schools, regardless of geographic location. My primary goal is to continue my volleyball career at the collegiate level ...earning a great education while playing a sport I truly love.
I hope to hear from you soon and THANK YOU for taking the time to get to know me!
