My name is Olivia Miles and I’m 17 years old. I am currently attending Valley View Junior High School in Jonesboro, Arkansas. I will be graduating in the year of 2022. I am from a family that consists of my mom, Christen and my dad, Justin, along with my younger, brother Judd that are loving, caring, and support everything I do. Volleyball has allowed us to grow even closer while traveling which is something that I will cherish forever. I have grown up in a fun, loving, and very Christian family.
I started playing volleyball when I was 11 years old. During this age, I was playing softball and volleyball at the same time. Volleyball was just going to be the sport I did on the side when I wasn’t busy with softball. Then once I started playing it more I started to figure out that I loved it more and more as every game went on. It probably wasn’t until the 6th grade when I realized that volleyball was going to be my primary sport.
When I was 12 years old and in the 7th grade I played my first year of school ball for Valley View. I was also asked to play volleyball on the B team for Arkansas Juniors Club team. I enjoyed it so much, that the next year I tried out again, and made the A team. I continued to play each year for the A teams until the year of 2019 JO Season. In 2019 I was asked to play up as libero on the 16’s national team. It was a fun opportunity for me to be able to play at a higher level than what I was use to while also challenging my game mentally as a player and person. It has taught me to rise to the occasion and make me a better player during these crucial years. Although we only got to play a few tournaments during this 2020 year, I'm sad that I had to miss the rest.
I am a player that is determined and works hard for her spot on the court. I am always willing to learn something new when it comes to volleyball. I am very coachable and I take all of the things the coaches say to me seriously. I am always try to improve from my mistakes so that I won’t make them the next time. My coach for Valley View has always said that she shouldn’t have to tell us more than once, because we should learn from our mistake and work harder next time to get better and that is why I strive to take my talent to the next level.
If given the opportunity to play at the next level, I will hold on to what I have been taught and hopefully sharpen my skills. I feel as if I am someone that can make the team better and strive for new goals that they have yet to accomplish with my determination, hard work, and effort. I hope you give me chance to show you what I can do!
