Tiersa Bailey '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Tiersa (tear-suh) Bailey. Whether it's on the court, in the classroom, or out in the community, I love being active, involved & leading others. I was just elected senior class president at Clovis West and am heavily involved in our school leadership program. Volleyball is my passion, and I would love to play competitively at the university level. I plan on studying communicative disorders/ behavioral therapy, working with Autistic and special needs children/young adults.

I have been playing competitive sports since I was in the fourth grade. I played basketball for 6 years and have played with Central Cal Volleyball Club's Gold travel teams for 5 years and am also a starter on the Clovis West Varsity team. I am a versatile player, playing Outside, Right Side & Setter. I am not afraid to work hard and am competitive, passionate, and always ready for a challenge!

Volleyball has helped me become a better person in many ways. This past season, I learned how to make the best of a bad situation. During our 4th league game, playing what my coach calls the "near perfect game of my life", I fractured my right fibula. While it was heartbreaking to be injured and out for the remainder of the season, I never missed a practice. I continued to be an enthusiastic (and loud) motivator for my team, and was able to help evaluate players at practice & during games. I also continued to lead my team in the pregame cheer with my crutches held high. My recovery has taught me the value of hard work & to never give up. I am stronger than ever and even more determined to lead my team back to the Central Section championship in 2016!
