Anyway. One of my favorite life sayings comes from the list of Paradoxical Commandments that states, “Give the world the best you have and you’ll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.” This quote particularly resonates with me because I have encountered a fair share of hardship and, quite literally pain, in my life that gave me every reason to give up. As my junior year had just barely begun, I tore the labrum in my shoulder requiring surgical repair and intensive physical therapy. However, despite all of the pain that came from this injury, my love for the sport never faltered. The comradery and the competitiveness of volleyball helped drive me forward in my journey to getting back to playing at a high level of club this season and the prospect of playing at the collegiate level. And above all, this intense pain taught me to be strong and put me on my path to be greater than the obstacles that knock me down. So now as I face the future that will most likely kick me in the teeth again, I can be confident and have the fortitude it takes to continue on my path anyway.
