Hi, my name is Mackenzie Clifford. I am a DS/Setter in the class of 2026. I attend Kent School, a small boarding school in Connecticut, and I am the varsity volleyball team captain.
Volleyball ignites me, and I’ve developed a deep passion for the game. I am driven to show up every day and perform the best I can, whether it is a game or practice. I am a flexible and versatile player, ready to play wherever necessary. I am adaptable to change and always step up when needed. I always give 110%. Not just physically but mentally. My mental toughness is what sets me apart from other players. I bring high energy and positivity to help keep my drive consistent throughout the season and uplift my teammates. As a captain, I have learned to lead selflessly and by example. Most importantly, I have learned to carry the weight of those around me and advocate for my teammates. I don’t let my mistakes define me; I return with the same fire and passion to improve in the next play.
Off the court, I love to get involved with the community, particularly my school. I have developed my leadership skills off the court through clubs and as a full-time orientation leader for younger students, and I am also a tour guide. I am part of a small committee that develops leadership programming for the captains and coaches at Kent School. I also play hockey and lacrosse in the Winter and Spring.
I aim to play volleyball at the collegiate level while also pursuing my academics. I am very disciplined with my schoolwork and strive to do my best. I take great pride in my grades and the work I produce. I want to pursue a degree in STEM, as I love science and engineering. Attending boarding school has taught me how to balance my athletic endeavors with academics and extracurriculars, which are equally important to me.
