October 2024:
I have submitted applications for a few schools where I plan to play club Volleyball. As the application process has gotten underway I realized I am not ready to leave the idea of playing for a Division I, II or III school. High School season has be outstanding. Being captain of my team and feeling this connection to my school and my teammates has made me realize I am not ready to give up this level of competitive play. I am still searching for a program that meets my college needs and wants, educationally and athletically. I continue to do research and am overwhelmed by how many programs are out there. I believe there is a school out there that is the perfect fit! My attributes include my strong work ethic, willingness to always learn and play hard for my team. While I know I am an undersized outside hitter when it comes to height I also know I am physically one of the strongest and most powerful hitters out there. I know there is a coach and program that wold benefit from what I have to give.
January 2024:
In November of 2023 I tried out at Northeast Volleyball Club in Norwalk, CT. I didn't tryout at any other club because over my high school career I have developed an amazing relationship with the coaches and club. I knew Northeast is where I wanted to play. I was excited to be offered a spot in the Northeast 17.2 Club team. After practicing with the team in December and January it was clear we would be obe of the most dominate teams in the Northeast! Our club director has added a few tournaments based on what he sees in this team, including The Big South Tournament in Atlanta and AAU Nationals in Orlando June 2024.
We had our first Tournament January 13 - 15, Winterfest in Hartford CT. We won the 17 USA Gold Bracket. We are so excited to see where this season goes! I had the chance to play outside hitter, right side as well as defensive specialist. My serving was solid and I love getting to move around the court learning all of the positions. Next tournament is Saturday 1/27 at NEVB! Goals for next tournament is to stay consistent with serving and serve receive.
August 2023:
I found the sport of Volleyball in Summer of 2021. My volleyball career began the very next week after my gymnastics career ended. I was a competitive gymnast since the age of 6 and as I entered high school I decided to go a different direction with my athletic career. I knew we had amazing clubs in the area and knew Staples High School had a competitive program, it seemed like it was the right fit at the right time. Being a competitive gymnast meant I was training up to 20 hours a week through middle school, this training gave me the opportunity to develop my values as an athlete and I will always cherish those lessons. I know what it means to work hard, perceiver and above all, commit!
My freshman year I tried out for the team, that was my first experience with volleyball. I didn't know much about positions, rotations or overall rules. I learned quickly and fell in love with the sport. I played for Nova a local club team during club season then return my sophomore year to try out again for Staples. I made varsity and at that moment I knew I wanted to get as far as I could with the sport. During my sophomore club season I made the difficult decision to leave Nova and tryout for one of the best clubs in the northeast, Northeast Volleyball club in Norwalk, CT. At Northeast I played for the U17 regional team as well as U16 club team.
Currently I am the Starting Outside Hitter for my High School Varsity team, coached by Jon Shepro. I believe this season is my best so far, I am fortunate to be playing outside hitter because it allows me to play both back row as well as make kills at the net. My strengths are leadership on and off the court as well as power and strength. I know what it means to work hard and be aggressive. I have a lot more to offer this sport and want to be part of a program that will help me continue to grow as a player and person.
