Personal Statement

Servant Leadership, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible. I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade, I am also a Black Belt in karate and I enjoy being a mentor to the young girls coming up in the volleyball program at my school. I have been blessed to by named Captain or Co Captain on every team I have been on since 7th grade both on my school team and my club teams. I enjoy helping my teammates to be the best they can be both on and off the court. I pride myself on outworking everyone even if they have more talent, nobody will out work me on and off the court, I also pride myself on having a very high volleyball IQ, making sure that I help my teammates in knowing where to be through out the matches to give everyone the best opportunity to be successful.

Evaluated at Showcase Camp - Atlanta Volleyball on 07/31/2021 by Coach Pego of University of North Carolina Charlotte Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 92 / 100 Serving - Quality toss. Good with accuracy and speed. Makes good use of either a top spin or float serve. Setting - Aggressive with the ability to read the play quickly. Good hands, accuracy of sets and movement of the ball. Tactical Abilities - 95 / 100 Communication - Great communicator; organizes and directs teammates well and communicates frequently. Reading The Game - Does well seeing the play before it happens and reading the other team to help put herself in a good position on the court. Physical Abilities - 89 / 100 Speed - Great speed overall, in particular with footwork to get into position. Will be an important asset going forward. Balance - Seemed to handle the challenges you faced well. Good job staying in your position and helping teammates where needed. Mental Abilities - 92 / 100 Leadership - Excellent job taking charge and leading the team. Great communicator and motivator. Competitiveness - Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coach's Comments As a setter, Destin tracks the pass well of the passer’s platform and has overall good eye sequencing on the court. She has a fast release on setting and communicates well with passers and hitters - telling them where they’re supposed to be in each rotation. As a 2023 grad, she still has time to develop a more efficient footwork, getting squared sooner and transitioning to coverage faster. She has a bright volleyball career ahead of her. When the game environment is stressful: team is tired, scores are close, etc., it is important to develop resistance to stress skills in order to minimize errors at crucial times. The college game is much more stressful, so this will be an important asset to you. As a setter, is it extremely important to look the same no matter where you are setting - forward or back. So, getting squared soon and keeping your hands the same will help you become an even better Vball player. Efficient footwork requires a lot of explosiveness on the floor. Work on your speed and agility to pivot to get to balls with your hands faster.
