Hi, my name is Emily Rockey and I live in Peachtree City (PTC), Georgia. My family moved from Illinois to Georgia in July 2019. Upon arrival I immediately had a tryout for the McIntosh High School JV volleyball team. I successfully made the team and was named the starting Libero. We had a successful year with ended with a conference championship. Shortly after the conclusion of my high school season I had a tryout for the A5 (15U) volleyball team. I made that team and was named a starting DS. We were having a very successful season before the COVID-19 virus ended our season.
This last year I was asked to move up to the Varsity team at McIntosh High School. I accepted the invite and was named a starting DS. We had a very successful season that ended with a Georgia State AAAAA Championship. We only lost one match all season and that loss made us really focus in on winning the championship. I recently had a tryout for the A5 (16U) volleyball club. I successful made the team and hope to be the starting libero this coming season.
My mother (Beth) and father (Steve) currently play several recreational sports. They have always allowed us to play sports and encouraged us to try different things. I also have a brother (Matt) and sister (Kara). Matt played several sports in high school and was a very good baseball pitcher. He currently attends University of Missouri and studies computer science. Kara played college volleyball at McNeese State University on a scholarship. She currently attends Syracuse University Law School. I also have a dog named “Cali”, she’s a Yorkie!
At McIntosh High School I currently have a 3.79 gpa. I have met with my academic counselor to make sure I am taking all my required college prep courses. Next year I hope to enroll in a few AP courses. I understand the importance of keeping my academics in good standing.
I want to play college volleyball and believe I can make a team stronger. The greatest attributes I bring to the court are toughness, quickness and being a good teammate. I love the feel of getting to a ball that coaches didn’t think anyone could get to and/or digging a big spike! But I think the thing that makes me most happy is being around my teammates. I anticipate having a very successful college career!
