It has always been one of my dreams to be able to play a sport at the collegiate level. Over the past few years, I have discovered that volleyball comes the most naturally for me and I truly enjoy competing at a high level on the court.
Being a middle child, I grew up wanting to compete with my older sister but also developed a sense of responsibility and sensitivity for my younger sister. Having an older sister who succeeds academically and athletically brings out my competitive side because I’ve always put pressure on myself to be better than her. While I may not have always succeeded, my competitive nature generates intensity and allows me to push myself and those around me to be the best we can be. The instinct of caring and looking out for others that I have gained from having a younger sister has come to help me in volleyball as well. As a setter, understanding each player is important in knowing how and when to set them.
Through being a multi-sport athlete and having double practices day after day, I’ve learned how to balance my schoolwork and athletics with other things I value. I have also learned that hard work both on the court and in the classroom produce results. Fun fact: one thing that I’m passionate about that helps me get through the double practices and late night study sessions is boba :)!
