Personal Statement
Making varsity as a freshman pushed me to my limits both athletically and academically. I learned time management and how to keep things organized and professional. After a tough season, I worked hard during the off-season and made varsity again durning my sophomore year, but this time I was a starter. My passion for volleyball began when I was 8 and I had learned that my sister played volleyball. I signed up to see what it was all about, and fell in love with the sport because of the team effort required to have success. Through volleyball, I have learned teamwork, how to communicate with others, and staying positive through hard times.
Academics have always been a priority for me, especially in the STEM fields. In college, I would like to be pushed academically and learn all that I can in all subjects. On my free time, I love to sew and do crafts, as well as make jewelry. I also love to travel and can even speak Chinese! Last summer I took a study tour in Bali, Indonesia to learn about sustainability and food security. Previously I had gone to China, Hong Kong, and Thailand visiting family and working on my Chinese skills. I am excited to keep growing as a person, player, teammate, and student.
