2012 Highlights
2011 HighlightsMy name is Rachael Lenderman and I am a senior at Hinsdale Central High School. I play libero for the Hinsdale Central varsity volleyball team and over the course of the season, I accumulated 428 digs. As a fearless 5’4”, 110 pounds athlete, I prove myself to be a very competitive individual both on the volleyball court and in the classroom. Furthermore, I utilize my quickness and agility training when sprinting and diving for balls on the court. Throughout the course of the season my coaches increased my speed and endurance through mile runs, 400 yard dashes, and suicides sprints.
As the senior starting libero on the varsity team, I was selected to the West Suburban Conference All-Conference Team for the second time. I earned this prestigious recognition as a libero, which is no easy feat. Additionally, I was named MVP of my team and given the Julie K Heidecki award. This is an award that is in honor of a former volleyball player that passed away. The award goes to someone who shows commitment, spirit, determination, leadership, sportsmanship, morality, and concern and service for others. Being chosen as captain for four of my six club volleyball teams, proves my teammates’ faith in my leadership abilities. Moreover, I push myself to be a vocal player, to motivate my team, and keep them positive. Through hard work and dedication, I challenge myself to be a better player for my teammates, my coaches, and myself. It is not abnormal for me to stay after practices to improve my serve receive passing consistency. As a result of my work ethic, my serve receive passing, defense, and serving improved greatly over the course of this past season.
I am open to pursuing any opportunities that volleyball provides to me in order to achieve my dream of playing volleyball at the collegiate level. I am interested in a liberal arts education. Currently, my favorite subjects are math and chemistry. What fascinates me is the study of human anatomy. Not only would I love to play volleyball in college, but I would also like to choose a major that inspires me to make an impact on society. In regards to volleyball at the collegiate level, I envision myself as a freshman starting libero or defensive player. Through the recruiting process I hope to find a school that suits me both academically and athletically.
