Hello, my name is Lilyen McCarthy. I have loved the sport of volleyball since I was 6 years old. Each year I strive to improve my skills on the court. I have played club ball for five years to gain valuable court time and improve my volleyball IQ. My hard work allowed me to be the only freshman to make a very competitive varsity team in 2017. Sophomore year I earned a starting spot on our varsity team that reached the championship Sectional game. I have been captain and a leader on many of my teams. Each game I bring high energy and a positive attitude to help my team achieve its full potential.
Along with wanting to find a college with a competitive volleyball program, finding a school with an excellent academic program is extremely important to me. I have maintained a 4.0 while taking the accelerated classes at Dee-Mack High School. I am also taking AP level courses my junior and senior years. I have learned valuable time management skills while remaining involved in many rewarding extracurricular activities, such as FBLA, Student Council, National Honor Society, and many charitable events. My leadership skills have also been recognized as I was the only student from Dee-Mack High School nominated for the Illinois Leadership Seminar for 2019. My goal is to find a college where I can achieve success in both athletics and academics at the highest level possible.
