I have played volleyball for 8 years and club for 6 years. I am voted captain this year as a junior on my high school team. Volleyball has always been something I have admired and wanted to play since I was 7 years old. In my younger years my mother was an assistant coach for the Lyons middle school team. Which had given me the opportunity to see what volleyball was at a more competitive level. Everyday after school my sister and I would watch and attempt to replicate what they were doing. Observing jr. high eventually lead me to spectating the high school and collegiate levels which opened up my eyes and challenged me how far I could take my volleyball career.
I have always considered myself a leader whether in the classroom or on the court. Volleyball has always given me an opportunity to lead a team and be a part of one. I also play tennis and I have always compared the two in which my volleyball team had always had my back no matter what. Without a team there would be no volleyball and that's what makes volleyball so special you have to learn to work well with others and communicate. This sport has made what I am today and I hope to gain much more from this sport.
