Personal Statement
My name is Amia Carter and my parents have been highly influential when it comes to my grades and athletics. They have also been my biggest supporters and personal cheerleaders throughout high school as a student-athlete. The same motivation gained through family support is what I utilize to my advantage both on and off the court. My love for the game of volleyball has grown immensely alongside awesome teammates, mentorship and coaching. I have a knack for the fundamentals of play in the game of volleyball, and I strive to perfect my craft to one day compete at the collegiate level. I am interested in a program that fits my athletic and academic goals.
As a two-sport athlete I aim to start every game and give 100% towards all opportunity to take home a win. That being said, I am not a fan of losing. However, through losses there are lessons which contribute to future wins. I am content with trusting the process of my overall improving as a player through experiences, exposure, and championships. The skillsets learned and knowledge acquired along the way keeps me laser focused in the toughest of times.
Assigned varsity team captain in my sophomore year meant a lot to me and my confidence as a player. Though a lot of responsibility, I embraced the challenge. As always, I remain a motivator for my teammates, whether we are in the lead or fighting from behind on the scoreboard. I always feel there is a chance to win—no matter the odds stacked against our team.
