Personal Statement
I am a hard worker and a team player. I never give up - not on any ball, not on any skill and not on anything I want to do. I am also a very versatile player. Although I have been setting club exclusively for the last three seasons and have been the starting setter for all 3 years, I've also played libero and defensive specialist in previous club and high school years.
I enjoy hard competition so I can test myself. I always want to be the best at what I do and I am willing to take on any challenge. Since switching to setter in high school, I've worked with both a setting coach and a fitness coach to allow me to "catch up" and compete with athletes who have been setting their entire playing career. I practice 3 days a week with my team. I train with my setting coach at least once a week, attend setter specific skills clinics one night a week and also see a trainer one night a week. I continue to improve and am recognized by my coaches and club Directors for my level of effort, the material changes in my key stats in the last 12 months and my contributions to any team that I am asked to play with. I also coach rec volleyball and understand court strategy. I am VERY proud of the fact that I have moved from third regional travel to National/First Team in just two and a half seasons!
I'm academically very strong, with a 4.2 GPA and am also very involved in leadership roles in my small Christian school. My ACT of 32 was in the 97% nationally. I plan to major in Middle School education undergrad and then continue on immediately to a Master's degree in Library Science, while either teaching or working as a public school media specialist.
