Personal Statement

Hello! My name is Alaina!  I have been exposed to a variety of sports such as field hockey and softball, and have played on several varsity level sports teams including volleyball, swim, and lacrosse.  While I enjoyed all of these, I fell in love with volleyball. I joined the BLAST Volleyball Club, and with less than a year of experience, I was placed on the best team for my age group.  I continued to play for Blast and each season played for their most competitive and skilled teams.  I have played every position, but quite early on I knew that the Setter position was my favorite!

I was a starting player for my high school Varsity team for my 8th and 9th-grade years until I transferred to a larger school where, while I did not start, I was a member of the Varsity team which in my sophomore year finished as SEC Champs and ranked 7 in the state in our division.  During my junior year we finished as SEC Champs, ranked as high as 3rd in the state in Division II, and went to the Final Four in the state playoffs.  In my Senior year, I earned the starting Setter role.  We ended the regular season as Conference Champions, and were ranked # 6 in Massachusetts Division II.  I broke the school record for Assists in one game (52), had a total of 677 Assists, and ended the year with the 3rd best Assist/Set ratio in the state across all divisions.

I work year-round and constantly challenge myself to become the best player I can be and to make my teammates better as well.  I carry my competitive spirit and optimism from the court into my academics and have created a rigorous class schedule for myself with AP and Honors classes so that I am constantly learning and being challenged.  I have always been a "straight A" student and am devoted to being an accomplished student-athlete.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
