Personal Statement
My high school is in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Division 1 where and I am a three-sport athlete.
Volleyball is my primary sport and this I am the starting OH/all around for the varsity girls volleyball team. In additional to volleyball, I am a high jumper for indoor varsity track and a thrower for outdoor varsity track, and in all sports at the tournament/invitational level.
I have been a member of the Boston United Volleyball Club (UVC) since middle school playing at the national level. My club team is lead by the Director of the Simmons College Women's Volleyball program, who is also the Director of New England AAU Volleyball.
I am viewed by my coaches and teammates as consistent and reliable, and am counted on as a strong and versatile player. I have played DS, pin hitter, and 6-rotation as needed between varsity and club. I contribute unique leadership in that I lead from within by being thoughtful and strategic, and by building relationships and trust. I have played the roll of floor captain as needed, and have experience communicating with coaches and officials in a respectful manner.
My early life was spent in a small rural town in upstate NY. In elementary school my family moved to a large fast paced and highly competitive Boston suburb. Growing up both extremes has formed me into an adaptable person. I am hardworking, competitive, accountable and considerate. As excited as I am about intense plays, points scored and solid grades, I also respect mistakes as opportunities for feedback and improvement.
I look forward to studying political science and public policy as an undergraduate with the goal of applying to law school. I am confident I will make a strong, talented, coach-able and well-rounded addition to your team.
