Personal Statement
My name is Sophia Berardinelli and I am a 5'6" starting varsity setter and captain of Whitman Hanson High School's varsity volleyball team. I am from Hanson, Massachusetts and will be graduating in the class of 2021. My family, educators and coaches would describe me as very coach-able, devoted and an uplifting. As a leader I constantly strive to not only better myself, but those around me, on and off the court. I know a lot about responsibility from growing up with my little brother, who has special needs, and I can say he has given me a different view of the world from what others have. As neither of my parents went to college, I aim to be the first in my family to get a degree. I am no stranger to hard work as I am a multi-sport athlete participating in volleyball and track and field at my high school and club volleyball as well. I made it a goal to become a flexible, well rounded player in the sport of volleyball, allowing myself experience in all positions. Attending a university next year that will provide me with an exceptional education is a top priority. All the same, having the privilege to play volleyball at the collegiate level has been a dream of mine ever since I started playing the sport, and I am determined to make this goal my reality.
