I have been playing volleyball since 5th grade. While I have played other sports since then, volleyball gives me a feeling while I'm playing that is unmatched to any other sport; once I get into the game, I never want to stop playing. While I may not be the tallest player on the court, I am extremely strategic, a hard worker, fast, and determined to win. I am always open to constructive criticism; if my coach asks me to completely change the way that I am setting, I will work tirelessly until I have my new technique down. I am also able to adapt to new situations rapidly; if a coach asks me to start playing with a hitter that I've never set for before, I am able to learn what style of sets she works best with quickly, and I can change my sets depending on that.
I started as the only freshman on my varsity volleyball team last year. As all of the other players were older than me, I had to get to know them and also learn how they play, as I had been playing with the same previous team for two years. Now, I am the starting setter on the Worcester Academy varsity volleyball team as a sophomore, and I am incredibly close with all of the players on the team, even though the season has ended. I genuinely knew that I wanted to play in college last year when I was competing at a high school varsity level. Playing at a higher level, I realized that I wanted to play at a faster, higher level in college. I also love having a close-knit volleyball family that always has my back, and one that wins or loses together.
I love being a part of a team, as well as a volleyball family. I am amiable and able to work well with others, on the court and off, and I love meeting new people. While I love to win, I never have bad sportsmanship, and integrity is exceptionally important to me, as it is a huge part of who I am. Academically, I am extremely ambitious; I am currently enrolled in all honors and AP classes as a sophomore, and I love learning inside and outside of the classroom. My passion for learning and playing makes me a threat on the court, and allows me to adjust to new situations, master new skills quickly, and overall just be a better player.
