I am from a small town in Michigan. I have been involved with our school's student senate all 3 years of high school. Being involved in Senate has taught me to stick to commitments and be a leader. Also my junior year I was the captain of the high school volleyball team.
Volleyball is important to me because it has allowed me to push myself as an athlete and as a person. My 7th-grade year I started playing volleyball, for the same reason everyone else played at that age because my friends were playing. After tryouts, I was told that I had made the B team. After that day I pushed my self so I never had that feeling again, self-doubt. The next year I made the 8th grade A team and played all the way around. My freshman year I made the JV team with 3 other freshmen. Then my sophomore year I made Varsity, I was the only sophomore on the team. I was the setter at the start of the season, by the end I was playing right side hitter and passed in the back row. My Junior year I was moved to the left side to hit and earned my self a starting position and captain. At the end of the season, I was informed that my closest friend and I had gone all-conference first team. I was honored for the recognition and made me realize that this sport was by far my favorite.
As a child, I played soccer, gymnastics, and alpine ski team. I went through these phases and I said, "I am going to be the next Mia Hamm, Lindsey Vonn, and Shawn Johnson all in one". Through my aspiration to be just like these great athletes they all taught me one thing, never stop believing in your dreams. My dream is now college volleyball.
