Abigail Zylstra '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Abigail Marie Zylstra. Some people call me Abbie, others call me Gail. Sometimes, when I am especially fired up on the volleyball court, my teammates and coaches call me Madigail -- because of my passion and intensity for the competition. I would love to bring that passion and intensity to a college volleyball team. Throughout my career, in both school and club volleyball, I have mostly played all around. I have played both Outside and Right Side in the front row, as well as Defensive Specialist in the back. I believe my coaches used me in this role for both my athletic ability, as well as my encouraging and motivational presence with my teammates. I always want the best for each of my teammates and push them to bring their best to every situation.

I currently have a 3.95 GPA as a high school junior. I am very proud of this accomplishment, especially given the difficulty of the school year amidst the pandemic, as well as the fact that I switched high schools this year when my family relocated. I would like to study exercise science in college, and I would love the opportunity to play volleyball. Outside of volleyball, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, being active outdoors, exercising, watersports, and participating in my church youth group.
