2018-2019 HighlightsThroughout my life I have faced and overcome many challenges, making me who I am today. Going through two family divorces by the age of 12, I had become certain that nothing good could come from my life. As I struggled with my own self-worth and purpose I began to hide from the world around me, begging others not to glance my way. Volleyball has always been a part of my life, something I’ve enjoyed doing, but it wasn’t until this point in my life that I realized how much it meant to me. With everything going on at home it became something I clung to, something that was constant. Volleyball became my outlet, I knew that no matter what had been going on earlier in the day when I stepped out on the court it was as if everything else in my life had stopped.
As I continued to work hard at practices and in games I began to grow, not only as a player but as a person too. I began to grow in my faith and learn that volleyball didn’t have to be the only constant in my life, that God had always been there too. Playing volleyball taught me that hard work pays off and pushed me to apply that in every aspect of my life. This continues to show in my school work, volleyball performance, and many other parts of my life. Today, I can proudly say that I am confident in who I am and thankful for the experiences that have shaped me. I don’t want to hide anymore, I am ready to share my story and to be seen.
